Processing times

Starting January 26, 2021, candidates for the Foreign Student Program must submit an application for temporary selection for studies and make the payment of the required fees via the online application for temporary selection for studies and submit their documents required as proof electronically in Arrima. Paper applications are accepted by the Ministère until January 25, 2021.

The Ministère has marshalled resources to limit the impact of the unprecedented crisis we are now experiencing. The measures taken in recent months to respond to the current situation do, however, have an impact on the processing times of applications.

The Ministère is aware of the impacts and would like to reassure you that important efforts are being made to minimize these delays while assuming its responsibility with respect to its personnels' health.

Normally, the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) has promised to process applications for temporary selection for studies within 20 business days. Despite the significant number of applications it receives, the Ministère takes every possible step to respect this timeframe when processing complete files.

To ensure fairness, applications are processed according to date of receipt.

We ask you not to contact the Ministère:

  • to obtain confirmation that your documents have been received;
  • to request priority processing.
