Proceeding to the Immigration-Québec office upon arrival at the airport

Reception at the airport

Upon your arrival, representatives from the Québec government and a community organization will welcome you. They will help you complete your immigration procedures.

First steps getting settled

In the first few days after your arrival, you will have several things to do, including registering for the Québec health insurance plan, enrolling your children at school, opening a bank account and looking for a place to live. Your sponsor (group of two to five persons or non-profit organization) has made a commitment to support you in this process. Do not hesitate to call on them if you need help.

Health services

Medical care and hospital services are available throughout Québec and are free for all eligible persons registered with the Québec health insurance plan. To activate your health insurance plan coverage as soon as possible, you must register with Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) within the first few days of arrival.

If you have your children’s vaccination records, it is a good idea to bring them with you so you can show them to your doctor or local public health clinic.

Financial assistance

Your sponsor (group of two to five persons or non-profit organization) has made a commitment to provide for your basic needs.
