Refugee recognized in Canada

Québec represents a welcoming haven for thousands of people who are granted refugee status after seeking asylum in Canada. See the section Humanitarian immigration.

Québec demonstrates its commitment to those who are granted asylum by giving them access to a wide range of services until they can obtain permanent resident status, thus helping ease their integration into Québec society.

Your 3-step procedure!

Are you a refugee who has been recognized by Canada? A typical immigration procedure is proposed. Take a moment to read it. It will give you a general idea of the different steps that may apply to your situation.

  1. Obtaining a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ)
It is important to submit your application for a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ – Québec Selection Certificate) as soon as possible in order to gain access to a wider range of services. See the procedure.

  2. Taking steps to integrate successfully into Québec
The Gouvernement du Québec and several of its partners will help guide you through the various steps of your integration process.

  3. Applying for permanent residence
You do not have to wait until you receive your CSQ to apply to the Government of Canada for permanent residence.
