Ministère’s Decision

  • The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration made a decision, in the ministerial order dated October 30, 2019 (n° 44A), a decision regarding management of collective sponsorship undertaking applications.

  • This same decision contains further details regarding the transmission of applications, which are the following:
    • They must be sent to the Ministère by courier, one application at a time;
    • Despite the above requirement, several applications can be sent at the same time if they involve members of the same family;
    • The envelope containing the application must indicate the program under which the application is being submitted, as well as the applicant’s category or sub-category, or the group of people the applicant belongs to.

Mailing instructions

  1. Each application must be enclosed in an individual envelope which will account for one mailing. Each envelope must indicate the program under which the application is being submitted, as well as the applicant’s category or sub-category, or the group of people the applicant belongs to.
  2. Applications for members of the same family must be submitted as follows: each application must be inserted first in an individual envelope. All the applications for the same family must then all be inserted into a large envelope. The large envelope accounts for one mailing. Write the program under which the application is being submitted, as well as the applicant’s category or sub-category, or the group of persons the applicant belongs to on the individual envelopes and on the large envelope.
  3. In cases where the applicant submits more than one application, all the individual envelopes must be gathered into one mailing package so that there is only one tracking number for it.

    PLEASE NOTE: We do not recommend using Express Post Canada in order to avoid your applications from being included in the delivery of regular mail. If applications are mailed through Express Post Canada, they will be registered only when the mail is sorted and will be inserted among the mail that is delivered by private courier when the applications are processed and not at the time of delivery.

To prepare your applications, please consult the page Your 5-step procedure.

Notice regarding submitting applications

  1. Envelopes that contain more than one undertaking application, other than those for the same family, will be considered inadmissible and will be returned to the addressee.
  2. Applications for the members of the same family that are not placed as indicated in Mailing instructions number 2 (one application per envelope inserted into a large envelope) will be placed together with the first envelope received if they are on the same tracking number.
  3. Any envelopes on which the program under which the application is being submitted is not indicated, as well as the applicant’s category or sub-category, or the group of persons the applicant belongs to, will be considered inadmissible and will be returned to the addressee.
  4. Applications submitted in person or sent by regular mail or registered mail will be considered inadmissible and will be returned to the addressee.
