The Immigration Consultants Regulatory Council becomes the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants of Canada

As of today, the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants (CICC) replaces the Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council (ICCRC).

By becoming the official Canada-wide regulatory authority for consultants in immigration and citizenship, the CICC will have the increased powers needed to protect the public as well as to regulate the profession of immigration consultants. The new authority can investigate professional misconduct and take disciplinary measures against fraudulent permit-holders. It can also obtain court injunctions against individuals who provide immigration advice without being authorized to do so.

These increased regulatory powers as well as expanded investigative powers will improve the protection of individuals who use the services of an immigration consultant.

A transition period of at least one year is planned in order to allow for the complete conversion of the ICCRC into the CICC.
