How do I apply for temporary selection for studies?

Questions for foreign students about sending documents electronically

Is it still possible to send documents by mail?

No. After January 26, 2021, foreign students must file their required documents in Arrima. Applications received by mail after that date will no longer be accepted by the Ministère.

Do candidates who already have a user account on the Arrima platform have to create a new account?

No. They can use their existing account. However, they must make sure that their Arrima profile indicates the first and last names that appear on their passport, that is, the first and last names entered when they presented their application on the portal Online application for temporary selection for studies.

Will the processing time be faster?

No, the application processing time is not faster. However, supporting documents will be received faster since postal delivery times and activities related to mail processing will be avoided.

Does the same procedure apply for renewal applications?

Yes. Foreign students can also submit their documents on the Arrima platform to renew their application for temporary selection for studies.

Is it always possible to add or remove documents once they have been downloaded on Arrima?

No. Once the documents are submitted on Arrima following the submission of the online application for temporary selection for studies, it will not be possible to add more documents. If documents are missing when the application is being processed, the Ministère will inform the candidate who can then add the documents on Arrima.

Note that documents cannot be removed once they have been submitted on Arrima.

What documents should be entered in the category of the dropdown menu “Autres types de documents” on the Arrima platform?

Five specific types of documents can be entered on Arrima:

  • Declaration, agreements and authorizations
  • Passport
  • Letter of acceptance, enrolment or attendance for studies
  • Financial proofs
  • Transcripts of grades

Any document that is not among one of these five specific types of documents fits into the category “ Autres types de documents.”

Can a representative submit the documents related to my application for temporary selection for studies in Arrima?

No. A representative cannot submit documents related to an application for temporary selection for studies in Arrima. This must be done by the foreign student through their user account.

How long after filing my online application for temporary selection for studies can I submit documents on Arrima?

48 hours after submitting the application for temporary selection, that is, after you have received a file number on the portal Online application for temporary selection for studies.

How will I receive confirmation that all of my documents were received?

You will receive an e-mail notification and, in the Arrima message centre, there will be a message confirming the submission of documents.

Will the Ministère communicate with me on the Arrima platform?

With respect to the application for temporary selection for studies, the Ministère will communicate with the candidate on the portal Online application for temporary selection for studies or by mail. Only communications related to the electronic submission of your documents on Arrima will be available in the Arrima message centre.

How much time do I have to submit my documents on Arrima after my application for temporary selection for studies?

There is no timeframe between submitting an application for temporary selection for studies and submitting documents on Arrima.
