Information technology industry worker
This is the specific procedure that applies to the seven information technology occupations.
First, make sure that the job offer corresponds to one of the following eligible occupations:
If the job you are being offered does not correspond to one of these occupations, the general procedure applies.
Notes:
– If you are coming to Québec to practise one of the seven above-mentioned occupations, your employer must have his or her application evaluated by the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles (MICC).
– Your employer is responsible for ensuring that the job offer corresponds to one of these descriptions.
– Jobs for a period of less than 30 days do not require you to obtain a Québec Certificate of acceptance.
Note that your employer is responsible for taking the necessary steps to obtain authorization for your stay in Québec. See the specific procedure (in French) for employers.
3 important steps
- You must find an employer in Québec who wishes to hire you temporarily.
- You must send the following documentation to your employer so that he or she has all of the necessary documentation to have the job offer approved:
– the Application for Certificate of acceptance (CAQ) for temporary work from Québec, duly completed, signed and accompanied by payment of the required fees for reviewing your CAQ application;
– the supporting documents required to process your CAQ application;
– a copy of your transcript and relevant diplomas.
Notes:
– The fees required to review the CAQ application can be paid by your employer.
– Do not forget to complete the section of the Application for Certificate of acceptance (CAQ) for temporary work entitled Authorization given to employer to authorize your employer to represent you in your procedure with the MICC.
– If the documents are written in a language other than French or English, they must be translated by a translator who is officially recognized in your country of residence. These documents must carry the translator’s seal and signature.
If your employer’s job offer is accepted by the MICC, your employer will send you a copy of the confirmation letter for the job offer as well as two copies of your CAQ issued by the MICC (one copy for you and one for Citizenship and Immigration Canada).
- You must apply to the Government of Canada for a work permit. For more information about this, visit Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s website.
If applicable, you (as well as every member of your family) must meet the Government of Canada’s health and security requirements to obtain a work permit.
If a medical examination is required, it must be done by a physician designated by Citizenship and Immigration Canada and fees are applicable.
