Procedure followed by your employer – Live-in caregiver – Changing employers

The employer who is ready to hire you and with whom you are making arrangements to live must follow certain steps.

Procedure with the Government of Canada

Your employer must assemble all of the following documents (the forms must be duly completed and signed) and send them to the Service Canada Centre in Toronto (temporary foreign workers):

Procedure with the Government of Québec

Your employer must send to the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Diversité et de l'Inclusion payment of the required fees for the review of its temporary job offer as well as the following documents:

  • a photocopy of all documents sent to the Service Canada Centre in Toronto;
  • the Application for Certificate of acceptance (CAQ) for temporary work, duly completed and signed by you, and accompanied by payment of the fees required to review your CAQ application;
  • the Live-in Caregiver Employment Contract signed by you and your employer;
  • a copy of your last Notice of Assessment or your last income tax information slip (T-4);
  • a copy of your last work permit issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada;
  • a copy of the employment termination letter from the previous employer. If this letter cannot be provided, the caregiver must explain the reason for departure, in writing.
