Live-in caregivers already in Québec – Change of employer
The feminine form is used for convenience and designates both men and women.
This is the specific procedure for live-in caregivers already in Québec
who wish to change employer.
Procedure
-
Read the elements in the employment contract
that will bind you and the obligations of the employer. Reread the document
Labour
standards in Québec and domestics residing with their employer
(PDF, 580 Kb) to review the provisions under the law regarding the
hiring of live-in caregivers.
-
You must first send certain documents to your new employer so that he or
she has everything necessary for the employment offer to be approved. Send
the following documents to the employer:
- the Live-in caregiver
contract of employment already filled out by your employer and that
you have taken the time to read and sign
- the Application for a Québec
Acceptance Certificate for Temporary Work, duly completed and signed
by you (or signed by the employer, provided that you have signed the last
section of the form entitled Optional authorization to employer)
- payment of the fees levied to review the Application
for a Québec Acceptance Certificate
- a copy of the last valid work permit
- a copy of your last notice of assessment or your last tax information
slip (T4), if applicable
- a copy of your previous employer’s letter of release.
-
Once your employer has received a conjoint letter of acceptance from Human Resources
and Skills Development Canada
(HRSDC) and the Ministère de l'Immigration
et des Communautés culturelles (MICC), you will receive your new
CAQ. You must renew your work permit as soon as possible with Citizenship
and Immigration Canada (CIC).
Submit an application to modify the conditions of your stay, to extend
your stay or remain in Canada to the Case Processing Centre in Vegreville (Alberta), suite 203.
Carefully follow the instructions in the CIC guide Application
to change conditions, extend my stay or remain in Canada (PDF, 314 Kb).
Attach to your application the documents listed in the Document
Checklist for a Work Permit (PDF, 33 Kb). Do not forget to
include a copy of your CAQ for the CIC in your mailing to the Case Processing
Centre in Vegreville.
Fees are levied at this stage.
