New application for an Acceptance Certificate for studies

If you wish to extend your stay as a student, you must enclose the following documents with your application:

  • original recent ID photo, passport format (35 mm X 45 mm);
  • payment of required fees, if you use the PDF or printed application form rather than the on-line form;
  • legible photocopy of the pages of your passport containing your personal information and photo (clearly defined). Your passport must be valid;
  • official letter from the registrar of your educational institution specifying your status as a full-time student as well as the number of credits obtained or to be obtained, if applicable;
  • original copies of your transcripts issued by the Québec educational institution for the entire validity period of your CAQ for studies or certified true copies from the institution and:
    • if you did not study full time for this entire period:
      • an explanatory letter and supporting document;
    • if you are a graduate or post-graduate student writing your thesis:
      • official letter from the institution confirming your full-time registration during each semester of writing until the present and indicating the probable end date of your program. This letter is not required if this information appears in the documents enclosed with your application;
  • recent proof of your financial capacity or the financial capacity of the person who is financially supporting you;
  • proof that you have maintained health and hospitalization insurance coverage in Québec during the entire validity period of your CAQ for studies (except if you are attending a university or educational institution that includes this type of insurance in the tuition fees);
  • proof that you have health and hospitalization insurance coverage in Québec for the first year of validity of your new CAQ for studies (unless you are attending  a university or educational institution that includes this type of insurance in the tuition fees);
  • letter of acceptance from the registrar (or admissions office) from the educational institution you will be attending, if you are changing your program or level of study.
