Undertaking application
Before submitting an undertaking application to the gouvernement du Québec, the sponsor must first present a sponsorship application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). If this application is accepted, the sponsor can continue the process by submitting an undertaking application to the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles (MICC).
The undertaking application is a contract that binds the sponsor with respect to the person being sponsored and the gouvernement du Québec (government of Québec).
The gouvernement du Québec establishes the scales used to evaluate the sponsor’s financial capacity and determines the length of the undertaking. It also ensures compliance with the terms of this undertaking.
Procedure
-
Have in hand your sponsorship letter from Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) which confirms that your sponsorship is approved
If your sponsorship application is approved, CIC will notify you by letter and invite you to continue the process by submitting an undertaking application to the MICC.
This letter is very important since it constitutes proof that your sponsorship application was submitted to and approved by CIC.
* You must forward a copy of this letter to the MICC when submitting your undertaking application, accompanied by the fees payable and all required forms.
