Proceeding to the Immigration-Québec office upon arrival at the airport

Reception at the airport

Before joining the members of your sponsoring group or organization, stop by the Immigration-Québec office to pick up information documents and set up an appointment with an integration officer of the Ministry.

First steps getting settled

Within the first few days of your arrival, you will have to take several important steps: applying for a Québec health insurance card, enrolling your children for school, opening a bank account and looking for a place to live. Your sponsor (group or non-profit organization) has made a commitment to support you in this process. Do not hesitate to call on them if you need help.

Health services

Medical care and hospitalization are available throughout Québec and are free for all eligible persons who have registered for coverage by Québec’s health insurance plan. To be covered as soon as possible, it is essential that you register with the Régie de l’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) within the first days of your arrival.

If you have your children’s vaccination records, it is useful to bring them with you to present to your physician or when visiting a public health clinic.

Financial assistance

Your sponsor (group or non-profit organization) has made a commitment to provide for your essential needs.
