This official will also arrange your transportation to your final destination. If you arrive between October 15 and April 15, and you are not dressed warmly enough for the season, you will be provided with winter clothing that you may keep. First steps getting settledWhen you arrive at your final destination, you will be provided with hotel accommodations for a few days. Representatives of reception organizations and Immigration-Québec will help you get settled. Within the first few days of your arrival, you will have to take several important steps: applying for a Québec health insurance card, enrolling your children for school, opening a bank account and looking for a place to live. A reception organization will help you with these procedures and provide you with furnishings and household items, as well as clothing, if necessary. Health servicesMedical care and hospitalization are available throughout Québec and are free for all If you have your children’s vaccination records, it is useful to bring them with you to present to your physician or when visiting a public health clinic. Financial assistanceUpon your arrival, the Gouvernement du Québec will provide you with financial assistance to help you pay for rent, food and other essential needs.
