Bringing your spouse or children to Québec

Once you have been granted permanent residence, your family members still abroad have one year, under the One-Year Window of Opportunity Provisions, to join you in Québec.

Family members include:

These family members must have been previously identified on the principal candidate’s application for permanent residence as well as on the CSQ application.

Procedure

If this situation applies to you, follow the procedure established by Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

  1. Write a letter indicating:

  • that the family members identified on your application for permanent residence have been located
  • that you wish to bring them to Québec, under the One-Year Window of Opportunity Provisions
  • your family’s address abroad
  • that, if your family members cannot be reached, the Citizenship and Immigration Canada office abroad should contact you.

Lastly, this letter must be accompanied by proof of payment of the fee charged to process your permanent resident application.

  1. Forward these documents to the Central Processing Centre in Vegreville, Alberta (Centre de traitement des demandes, Vegreville (AB) T9C 1W1). The Vegreville office will confirm to Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s office abroad that your family members were declared in your permanent residence application and that they may immigrate to Québec.
