Application for Permanent Residence in CanadaBefore an interview can be scheduled by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), the sponsored person and his or her family members must fill out the Generic Application Form for Canada (IMM 0008) and send it to a Canadian visa office abroad. To accelerate the processing of your file, we recommend that you include the Application for Permanent Residence in Canada of the sponsored person with your sponsorship application.
NOTE: If the person you are sponsoring is coming from a territory served by the Canadian visa office in Nairobi, you must attach the Application for Permanent Residence in Canada to your sponsorship application.
If the refugee you are sponsoring is coming from a territory other than the one served by Nairobi, you may follow the regular procedure, but you must realize that this procedure is usually much longer:
You can obtain the Permanent Residence Application Kit which includes the instruction guide IMM 6000, the application form IMM 0008, appendices 1 and 2 as well as the authorization to communicate information on the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website.
