Helping the sponsored person bring his or her spouse or children to Québec

Sponsored persons are usually accompanied by their family members upon their arrival in Québec. In certain cases, however, family members may be unable to travel together.

If this is the case, the unaccompanying members of the sponsored person’s family may be able to join him or her in Québec, provided certain conditions are met.

The One-Year Window of Opportunity Provisions enable family members to be reunited provided an application for permanent residence, under the same category as that of the sponsored person, is filed within one year of his or her date of arrival in Canada.

These family members must have been previously identified on the undertaking, on the application for permanent residence as well as on the CSQ application.

 

  USEFUL INFORMATION  
Refugees or persons in similar circumstances in Québec whose spouse or children remaining abroad do not meet the conditions of this program can consider other options, including sponsorship in the family class category. Section Sponsors and sponsored persons
