Refugee recognized in Canada

Québec represents a welcoming haven for thousands of people who are granted refugee status after seeking asylum in Canada. See Humanitarian immigration.

Québec demonstrates its commitment to those granted asylum by giving them access to a wide range of services before they obtain permanent residence, thus helping ease their integration into Québec society.

Your 3-step process!

Are you a recognized refugee in Canada? Below is a typical immigration process. Take time to read it. It will give you a general idea of the steps that may apply to your situation.

  1. Obtaining a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ - Québec selection certificate)
It is important to submit your application for selection as soon as possible to gain access to a wider range of services. Learn about the procedure to follow.

  2. Taking steps to successfully integrate into Québec
The Government of Québec and several of its partners will guide you in your efforts in order to facilitate your integration.

  3. Applying for permanent residence
You do not have to wait until you receive your CSQ to apply to the Government of Canada for permanent residence.
