Family reunification

Want to sponsor a family member? A typical sponsorship process is described below. Take the time to read it. It will give you an idea of the steps you must take and the conditions you must meet to sponsor a close relative. It also contains useful information to help the person you are sponsoring understand the procedures that he or she will have to complete and prepare for a new life in Québec.

Important: The Government of Québec establishes the scales used to evaluate the financial capacity of sponsors residing in Québec and determine the duration of the undertakings to the people they wish to sponsor.

Consequently, directives issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to modify the scales used to evaluate the financial capacity of sponsors or the duration of sponsorship undertakings will not apply to Québec sponsors or people sponsored by them.
