A new regulation respecting immigration to Québec entered into force on August 2, 2018.

For the time being, only the French versions of the Web pages and forms are up-to-date. Please refer to them while waiting for the content update in English. You can also consult the Québec Immigration Act in the Gazette officielle du Québec.

Thank you for your understanding.

Knowledge of the French language is the key to your integration and participation in Québec society. From the moment you arrive in Québec, you’ll be immersed in a French-speaking environment. Everything will take place in French, from finding a place to live, to opening a bank account, to enrolling your children in school.

French is the official language of Québec and the language most often used in public life, at work, in communication and business.

If you’d like to start learning French or improving your knowledge of the language before your exploratory trip, you can consult the free bank of online French exercises. You can also register for distance or online courses, which may require you to pay fees.

In addition, you can take French courses in your country. The Québec Immigration office abroad will be able to inform you about the courses available in your country.
