Part-time courses

Learn French in just a few hours a week! Several institutions offer part-time French courses. All of the courses are offered to immigrants 16 years of age and over who live in Québec.

Conditions of eligibility

You are eligible for part-time French courses if you have one of the following immigration statuses:

  • obtained permanent residence;
  • authorized to submit an application for permanent residence from within Canada;
  • obtained asylum;
  • seeking asylum in Canada while settled in Québec;
  • holder of a temporary stay permit issued pending the granting of permanent residence or a Ministerial permit;
  • holder of a temporary stay permit as a temporary worker or foreign student and holder of a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ – Québec Selection Certificate);
  • Naturalized Canadian citizen.

Registration

Part-time courses are offered by various educational organizations and institutions in several Montréal neighbourhoods as well as in other cities in Québec.

You must register directly with the institution where you want to take your course. You may be required to undergo a placement evaluation.

Submit your application by mail.

  1. Complete by hand or on screen all of the sections in the form Demande d'admission et d'inscription à un cours de français à temps partiel (in French only – Dynamic PDF, 110 kB).
  2. Sign the form
  3. Enclose the required documents.
  4. Send the form and all supporting documents by mail to the following address:

Financial assistance

You may be eligible to receive financial assistance to help cover child care expenses for your child.

This financial assistance is set at $7 per child, per day of training.
