Learning French abroad

Acquiring good knowledge of French in your country of departure will prove very useful to you, since it will facilitate your integration process.

Several agreements have been signed around the world with various language schools accredited by the Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Diversité et de l'Inclusion, particularly with local Alliance française schools.

The lessons given in these schools will also help you better understand Québec society through document collections made available to the Ministère partners.

Did you know that the Ministère can reimburse up to C$1500 to immigrants who took French courses abroad after obtaining the Quebec selection certificate (Certificat de sélection du Québec - CSQ)? To find out more, visit Immigration-Québec’s website, and consult the French language section.

Do you want to apply for immigration?

For information on this topic, consult the section Proficiency in French or English.

Are you waiting for your visa?

Learning a language takes time. You and members of your family should start learning French as soon as possible. The time spent studying the language before your departure will help you integrate more quickly in Québec.

Are you a refugee?

If you can, enroll in a French course before you arrive in Québec. Members of your family will also benefit from acquiring knowledge of French as soon as possible.
