Submitting a request for a comparative evaluation

Do you really require a comparative evaluation?

An Évaluation comparative des études effectuées hors du Québec (comparative evaluation for studies done outside Québec) is not always required in order to work or study in Québec. Before submitting a request, first check to see if the employer, professional order or teaching institution requires this document.

However, you do require this document to apply for a teaching permit in Québec or to apply for a position in the public service at the municipal, provincial or federal level.

Documents required

To process your request for a comparative evaluation, the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles requires the following:

• the form for the request for an evaluation duly completed and signed,
• an accepted identity paper,
• the educational documents to be evaluated,
• a translation of the documents presented if they are written in a language other than French or English.

You must also include payment of the required fees according to accepted payment methods.

Where to submit your request

In Montréal
If you reside in Montréal, you must mail your request to the Direction du courrier, de l’encaissement et de l’évaluation comparative.

Outside Montréal

If you reside outside Montréal, you may mail your application to the Direction du courrier, de l’encaissement et de l’évaluation comparative or the Direction régionale located near your place of residence, or submit your request in person to the Direction régionale located near your place of residence.

	NOTE
	Some offices require that you to make an appointment to drop off your request in person. To avoid unnecessary trips, we recommend that you call the MICC’s Centre de contacts clientèle to make an appointment or find out when you should drop off your request and pay the fees.

Outside Québec

If you live outside Québec, you must send your request by mail to the Direction du courrier, de l'encaissement et de l'évaluation comparative.

Mailing of documents

The MICC prefers that you enclose certified true copies with your request. However, if you decide to submit original documents, to make sure that they arrive safely, we recommend that you send them by registered mail. After being examined, your original documents will be returned to you in the same manner.
