Bank cardBanking services are becoming increasingly automated. You are likely to find automatic teller machines in most banks and credit unions or caisses populaires and other public places—convenience stores, shopping centres, etc... These computerized machines allow you to perform most of your routine banking transactions (deposits, withdrawals, transfers, public utility payments) using a magnetic card called a “bank debit card”. You can also use this card to pay for various items at most stores, including supermarkets, gas stations, pharmacies, etc. The amount of your purchase is deducted directly from your account. You must apply for a bank card. Before using your card, find out about the
conditions by contacting your bank or credit union. Note that service charges
may apply to each transaction.
