Social services for children

The Civil Code of Québec and other legislation clearly states that Québec society does not regard children as the “property” of their parents, but as persons in their own right. It is therefore eager to ensure that they receive a good education, that they be vaccinated against certain childhood diseases and protected from physical, psychological or sexual abuse.

Should you have reason to believe children are being abused, mistreated or neglected, please contact the Centre jeunesse in your region and ask to report the situation to the Directeur de la protection de la jeunesse (DPJ).
