Information sessions

The Ministère de l'Immigration, de la Diversité et de l'Inclusion offers information sessions on living, working and studying in Québec as well as Québec’s immigration procedures. These free sessions are designed for people who plan to immigrate or stay in Québec. They are given in several languages by a ministry counsellor. They are offered online and in person in certain countries.

Online sessions

This session is for people who want to know more about Québec, its job market and occupational sectors that are in demand. It will help you decide if Québec is the right place for you.

Subjects addressed:

  • Snapshot of Québec (geography, population)
  • The values of Québec society
  • The economy
  • The world of work and how it functions
  • Occupational sectors in demand
  • Daily life

Duration: 40-minute presentation followed by a question period (chats for online sessions)

Necessary equipment for the online sessions: computer, tablet or telephone with an Internet connection (high speed strongly recommended) + speakers or headphones

It is strongly recommended that you complete the session Québec: Its society and economy and complete the Preliminary Evaluation for Immigration before registering for this session.

 

These sessions are for people who have decided to immigrate to Québec and want to be well prepared for the procedures. It primarily addresses permanent immigration but also provides succinct information on temporary immigration.

Subjects addressed:

  • The stages of the immigration process
  • The selection criteria (area of training, language knowledge, etc.)
  • Different types of stays (permanent and temporary)
  • Costs

Duration: 40-minute presentation followed by a question period through online chats. Answers will be provided live or in a question & answer file sent after the presentation.

Necessary equipment for the online sessions: computer, tablet or telephone with an Internet connection (high speed strongly recommended) + speakers or headphones

In-person session

This session is for anyone who wants to learn more about Québec and the immigration process.

Subjects addressed:

  • Snapshot of Québec (geography, population)
  • The values of Québec society
  • The economy
  • The world of work
  • Professional sectors in demand
  • Daily life
  • Steps in the immigration process
  • Selection criteria (area of training, language knowledge, etc.)
  • Different types of stays (permanent and temporary)
  • Costs

Duration: 40-minute presentation followed by a question period. Note that counsellors cannot answer questions regarding the individual files of participants.

Online and in-person sessions

These sessions address the job characteristics and prospects of the sectors that are the most in demand in Québec. They also offer advice on how to start procedures from abroad that lead to the practice of your trade or profession in Québec. These sessions are designed exclusively for people who have training or work experience in the sector in question.

Subjects addressed:

  • Presentation of the sector
  • Job prospects and working conditions
  • Diploma equivalency and the conditions for practising the profession or trade
  • How to prepare from abroad

Duration: 30-minute presentation followed by a question period (chats for online sessions)

Necessary equipment for the online sessions: computer, tablet or telephone with an Internet connection (high speed strongly recommended) + speakers or headphones

This session is for people interested in coming to Québec to study.

Subjects addressed:

  • The characteristics of the Québec education system
  • The procedures for coming to study in Québec
  • The procedures for living and working in Québec after studies

Duration: 30-minute presentation followed by a question period (chats for online sessions)

Necessary equipment for the online sessions: computer, tablet or telephone with an Internet connection (high speed strongly recommended) + speakers or headphones

Once you have completed this step, you will receive a confirmation message as well as instructions on how to participate in the session.
